Barcelona suffered a disappointing defeat at Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday, losing 2-1 in a match that could have seen them extend their lead at the top of La Liga. The Catalan giants took the lead in the first half through Memphis Depay, but Rayo fought back in the second half with goals from Alvaro Garcia and Oscar Trejo. Barcelona failed to create many clear chances and looked vulnerable at the back, as Xavi's side stumbled on the road for the second time in four days. The result leaves Barcelona with 46 points from 19 games, two points ahead of second-placed Real Madrid, who have two games in hand. Rayo climbed to seventh place with 31 points from 20 games, continuing their impressive season under coach Andoni Iraola.
