Pamela Chopra, the wife of legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra, passed away on Thursday at a hospital in Mumbai after a prolonged illness. She was 74 years old. Pamela Chopra was a singer, producer and writer who collaborated with her husband on several iconic films such as Kabhi Kabhie, Silsila, Chandni and Dil To Pagal Hai. She also founded the Yash Raj Films (YRF) Music label and composed songs for films like Mohabbatein and Veer-Zaara.
Pamela Chopra was born in 1947 in Lahore, Pakistan. She married Yash Chopra in 1970 and moved to Mumbai with him. They had two sons, Aditya and Uday, who are both filmmakers and run the YRF banner. Pamela Chopra was known for her grace, elegance and warmth. She was also a philanthropist who supported various causes such as education, women empowerment and health care.
Pamela Chopra's demise has left a void in the Indian film industry and among her fans. Many celebrities and dignitaries have expressed their condolences and paid tribute to her on social media. Her funeral will be held on Friday at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Mumbai. She is survived by her sons, daughter-in-law Rani Mukerji and grandchildren Adira and Veer.
