While discussing his injury-plagued IPL season, Ben Stokes made a reference to John Terry, the legendary Chelsea defender who had his share of misfortunes on the pitch. Stokes compared his situation to Terry's infamous penalty miss in the 2008 Champions League final against Manchester United, which cost Chelsea the trophy. Terry slipped on the wet turf and hit the post, allowing United to win the shootout 6-5. Stokes said he felt like Terry when he missed a crucial catch in one of the IPL matches. He also mentioned Terry's other injuries, such as a fractured foot, a shoulder problem and a head injury that knocked him unconscious in the 2007 Carling Cup final. Stokes praised Terry for his resilience and leadership, and said he hoped to emulate him in his cricket career.
